Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)
We are dedicated to averting all accidents, occupational illnesses, and environmental damage under our HSSE Policy. Thus, we strive for technological, organizational, and behavior-based safety by consistently streamlining the operations of all our companies and encouraging a proactive safety culture. For each of its subsidiaries, Hamburg’s Corporate Department of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) sets standards and norms. In order to achieve continual improvement, performance is benchmarked and compared.
Creating comprehensive HSSE guidelines that are tailored to the various operating units is a crucial first step that lays the groundwork for the sites to create appropriate local management systems. For incident learning, a global incident database is essential. In order to keep them from happening again, all mishaps, near misses, hazardous situations, and risky activities and conditions are documented and carefully scrutinized. HSSE alerts are written, delivered to the right places, and discussed with our staff as necessary.
HSSE Policy
Handling significant volumes of valuable and potentially hazardous liquids requires cautious and safe procedures. We promise to constantly operate all of our facilities safely and efficiently throughout the world. In addition to protecting the environment, our goals include preventing work-related diseases, accidents, and injuries. Because of this, we work to achieve technical, organizational, and behavior-based safety by constantly improving every area of our operations and by fostering a proactive safety culture.
In 2021, we implemented eight safety principles that serve as a reflection of our values and enhance both our safety culture and performance. We value safety and accept full responsibility for safety performance. Safety is a guiding principle that informs every decision made at every level of our company. The management publicly and resolutely supports the implementation of this strategy. We need the cooperation of all of our employees, contractors, and other workers if we are to maintain the trust and confidence that our HSSE performance has earned us from our neighbors, customers, and the community at large.
Environmental Protection
The environment is impacted by our actions both directly and indirectly. Therefore, we wish to do everything in our power to portray ourselves to prospective clients as an eco-friendly company that reduces its negative impact on the environment. Given that our business depends on resources like water, power, and building materials, we are aware of the possible environmental risks related to our operations. Hence, in order to reduce any negative effects on the environment, both now and in the future, we must put in endless effort. To succeed, we’ve set high standards for ourselves in the surroundings.
Environmental issues are an essential part of our HSSE management system. Our HSSE policy requires us to use energy and raw materials efficiently, avoid harming the environment, and increase staff awareness of environmental issues in order to minimize negative effects. We have long kept track of the quantity and frequency of product releases, the energy and water used, and the waste produced at our sites. Furthermore, in order to more effectively identify and evaluate our progress, we have established relevant key performance indicators (KPIs). Moreover. In compliance with our HSSE management, we also routinely monitor the groundwater quality on our tank terminals as a preventive measure. The collected data is carefully examined by our environmental specialists.
